Tree at Sunset


5 x 7 inches - oil on gessoboard - While driving across the mountains on the big island of Hawaii, we passed a dry barren area just at sunset.  The way the mountains were lit was wonderful but it's a hard place for trees to survive.

Surfers


8 x 10 inches - oil on gessoboard - Hawaii seems to be a popular place to surf. Much of it is on a small scale, not the iconic huge waves with young folks taking their lives in their hands - less thrilling but as much fun.
