Seascape

oil on cradled hardboard 48 x 36. I just completed this larger painting after setting a challenge for myself of creating a convincing seascape. I have always been drawn to paintings of the sea. When I started the painting, it seemed to need to be large, now all I have to do is find somewhere to put it.

House by the Sea

6 x 6 oil on gessobord. I worked on this one over and over with many redos but I think it now evokes the sense of the coast that I was looking for.

Waterlily

Oil on Gessoboard. 6 x 6. As it often happens, I was about ready to throw this one out the window part way through but I kept on going and I am now happy with the way it turned out.

Study for On the Lake

Oil on Gessoboard 5 x 7. I drew with a regular pencil on the board after a value sketch because the watercolour pencil was not showing up enough. Then not wanting the pencil to contaminate the paint, I coated it with acrylic medium first. I don't know what impact this might have on the long term survival of the painting but it kept the pencil from bleeding into the paint.
