8 x 8 inches - oil on canvas board - They have forgotten me and left for good. Now what do I do? This is probably the last of my series on cats waiting at doors.

Trouble
8 x 8 inches - oil on canvas board - I'll make you an offer you cannot refuse. Let me in and I won't make your life miserable (which you know that I can do). I have been working on a series of paintings of cats waiting at doors.

Still Waiting
8 x 8 inches - oil on canvas board - If you let me in I will stick around to listen to you go on and on about your day. I have been working on a series about cats waiting at doors.

Smarty Pants
8 x 8 inches - oil on canvas board - Of course I talk to myself. Sometimes I need expert advice. Too bad I have to depend on unreliable humans to open the door. I have been working on a series of small paintings about cats waiting at doors.

Losing Patience
8 x 8 inches - oil on canvas board - I know that they will be here (eventually) but....damn! I have been working on a series of small paintings about cats waiting at doors. Don't ask. It's the way my mind works. For me it is helpful to practice a similar topic as a series.

Do I Know You?
8 x 8 inches - oil on canvas board - I have been working on a series of small paintings about cats waiting at doors. Don't ask. It's the way my mind works. For me it is helpful to practice a similar topic as a series. This fellow is looking at us wishing that we have the key to let him in. He is not fussy about who does it as long as it gets done.

Pub on the Corner
8 x 8 inches - oil on hardboard - I try not to be afraid of the dark but it changes things.
Here are some of my typical materials. I tend to use smooth boards on small paintings (8 inches or less), 8 x 10 and 9 x 12 tend to be the finer weave linen panels, the larger paintings I tend to use canvas panels, and the very large on stretched canvas. I went through a phase of walnut oil and I still use Graham's walnut medium but lately I have been using linseed based oils. For brushes, I have found that the long flats in synthetic bristles work for me but I also use a small soft round for some things. I have found that keeping my brushes in a small plastic bag with a little safflower oil keeps them from drying out and protected. Any paint left in the bristles stays soft and I can easily wipe off the oil for the next adventure.
This might be the my post for several weeks while I am traveling. I have a series of wildlife portraits completed which I will share when I get back.

Before the Rain
8 x 8 inches - oil on hardboard - If you don't pick your peonies before a heavy rain, you might just find them on the ground.

8 x 8 inches - oil on hardboard - After living through the big dump we got last night, this little guy took a few minutes to rest in the sun.
