Blue Poppy

6 x 6 inches - oil on gessoboard - For gardeners, the blue poppy is special, partly because true blue is rare for flowers and partly because it is so difficult to grow. We traveled many miles past Quebec city to Grand Metis in the Gaspe to Reford Gardens. That's were we saw blue poppies and it was well worth the trip.

Two Blue Irises

7 x 5 inches, oil on gessoboard - It was interesting trying to decide what part of this painting to paint first. The white under the beard was painted on top of the colour.

Blue Umbrella

6 x 6 inches, oil on gessoboard - This is a rainy day in downtown Toronto. Nice to visit but I do not miss it since we moved to a smaller city. We can get there in an hour and a half by train to go to a play or shop but it is a little too busy for me.

Snowdrops

7 x 5 inches, oil on gessoboard - Snowdrops are a sure sign that spring is just around the corner. We still have some small piles of snow stubbornly melting, but the garden is starting to pop out of the ground.  I picked these from our garden and painted them because they will not be around for long.

Safe Harbour

5 x 7 inches, oil on gessoboard - I should paint more scenes from the east coast since I have some history there. This is from a photo that I took some years ago, I think its in New Brunswick.

I Heard It Through The Grapevine

6 x 6 inches, oil on gessoboard - If I have given some of you of a certain age an ear worm for the day, I apologize. Snow coming down again today. I might just stay inside all day and paint or hide under the covers.
