White Peony
6 x 6 inches - oil on gessoboard - The newer varieties of peonies are so much different than the traditional varieties that were bred to be cut flowers but not to stand up to wind and rain. The new ones usually perform well in the garden and many put on spectacular displays. Peonies are also easy to maintain.

Ruined Arch
8 x 10 inches - oil on gessoboard - I painted this from a photo that I took a few years ago in KEW gardens in the UK. This is a folly, which just means its a structure with no use other than decoration. Apparently, it was once used as a bridge to bring cattle into enclosed pastures in the garden. It is made of brick and clad with stone.
