Green Hill

6 x 12 inches - oil on hardboard - This is the hill we live on. It is very colourful this time of year and I decided to capture how it looks before all the leaves fall off in a couple of days.

6 x 6 inches - oil on gessoboard - Here is the view from the top of our hill. The colours of the trees are great this year.

Autumn on the River

16 x 20 inches - oil on hardboard - Here is a larger work that I recently completed. Because I have been disenchanted with stretched canvas, I made my own board for this one.  I sealed the board first with coats of shellac on both sides, then several coats of gesso on the painted side. This extra work makes less sense for the small boards but, I think I like this approach for larger work. Once the work is displayed or sold, I can add a support or frame to the back.

Summer's End

8 x 8 inches - oil on linen board - It looks like the warm weather is over now and once the fall colours are down on the ground we are bracing ourselves for the first snow.

Retired

Oil on Gessoboard 5 x 7. I saw this dump truck while on a garden tour and took lots of photos because I knew one day I would paint it.
